Emergency Information
In the event of inclement weather, including hurricanes, freezes, or tornados, or emergencies such as broken plumbing, electrical outages or building damage which might require school closing, parents are advised to view WWL-TV Channel 4 and WDSU Channel 6 for advisories.
The decision to close school is made by the Treme Charter School Association based upon the recommendation of the Chief Executive Officer. All decisions will be made as early as possible to allow parents time to plan for the supervision of the students.
Teachers will be directed to call their students before 8:00 a.m., if school is closed. Be sure that the teachers have your current telephone numbers on file in case of an emergency.
School Buses will not run when an emergency has been declared. Parents are advised to make sure the busses are running before leaving students at the pick-up points. Students are never to be let out of cars at the front of the school on North Tonti Street; use the rear gate on North Rocheblave Street to be sure someone is on duty.
The welfare, security, and safety of the students will always be the highest priority.
Breakfast and Lunch
Breakfast is served Monday through Friday at 7:40 a.m. in the school’s cafeteria. Students are served a hot lunch every day at 45 minute intervals between 11:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Applications for free and reduced price lunches are available at the school and must be completed during registration. Students also have a short recess period after lunch.
Uniforms
The required school uniform includes khaki pants or skirts and blue polo shirts. Pants must be belted at the waist. Pre-K to 6th grade students wear navy blue shirts and 7th and 8th grade students wear light blue shirts. Monogrammed shirts are available from a contracted vendor. Details are available at the school. Students must wear black shoes or tennis shoes and white socks. Expensive jewelry is not allowed. Male students may not wear earrings. Nose, eyebrow and lip jewelry are prohibited.
Transportation
Students who reside one mile or more from the school may apply for transportation services. The school administration will determine which children are eligible for transportation. The school contracts with a private vendor to pick up students at designated stops in the mornings and to drop them off at the same spots in the afternoon. Bus students must ride both ways. Riding the school bus is a privilege that comes with following safety rules and riding respectfully. Students who disobey bus rules may be suspended or expelled from the bus.
